Uprostred budúcej vojny medzi ľudskou rasou a silami umelej inteligencie sa nachádza Joshua (Washington), zocelený bývalý agent špeciálnych jednotiek, ktorý smúti nad zmiznutím svojej ženy (Chan). Bol naverbovaný, aby vypátral a zabil Stvoriteľa, nepolapiteľného architekta pokročilej umelej inteligencie, ktorý vyvinul záhadnú zbraň s mocou ukončiť vojnu i existenciu samotného ľudstva.
